The Alumni Association represents you and supports the good work of Girard College in your name. We are an independent organization founded in 1900. Since then we have given countless gifts to the students of Girard and to former students, we have represented the Alumni in good times and in bad times, and we have kept Girardians and ‘Hummers” together.

There are between 3,500 and 4,500 living alumni of Girard, including students who started but did not finish, who qualify for membership in the Association. Less than half are members. From members comes the income that allows us to carry on your work, the maintenance of this website, the communication so vital to a group of persons like us who have come through this wonderful school, the publication of our magazine, Steel & Garnet, the production of Founder’s Day, Homecoming Day and participation in all the Chapter meetings. We keep our finger on the pulse of the school and let you know of changes and new programs in which you may be interested. We manage many gifts given by generous donors to provide scholarships and to support the school both for capital improvements and for improved curriculum. We are here to make sure a gift is put to its donor’s intended use.

We depend upon yearly memberships and additional gifts from life members for immediate operating support of our office and our programs.
